The Lady in the Tomb

In this undated photo, Elizabeth Rae, the lady in Portland’s magnificent ‘Rae Room’ tomb is shown on the right, next to an unnamed friend. The accompanying article is from a Kansas newspaper, the Wilson County Citizen, in January, 1909. Born Elizabeth Emma Maxwell, she often went by ‘Emma.’ Elizabeth would marry George Rae on her birthday in November, 1914, but before that was married to William W. Miller.
